It’s the movie everyone wants to see, but nobody knows how to make.
What’s it going to take to ensure Wonder Woman is the big-screen superhero that pays back in box office bucks?
She never struggled to pull TV ratings back in the 70s with Lynda Carter in the spangled spandex suit.
But every couple of years since then, someone has failed spectacularly to get both a film or TV adaptation off the ground.
Even Joss Whedon couldn’t convince studio execs to give him a turn.
“I would go back in a heartbeat if I believed that anybody believed in what I was doing. The lack of enthusiasm was overwhelming,” he told Inquisitr.
There was a pilot in the 90s, a pilot in the 00s, and a pilot in 2011 helmed by David E. Kelly, which banked on sexing it up with Adrianne Palicki.
Palicki looked the goods:
But clearly needed to work on her Running Face:
And fans didn’t like the long pants, but even a change to skimpies couldn’t generate enough enthusiasm to convince Kelly to push on.
So finally, it’s come to that now time-honored tradition of reinventing superheroes by giving them dirty faces.
This teaser is more than your average fanfic. The “fan” is Jesse V. Johnson, stuntman turned director with some experience in action features, albeit not top shelf.
And WW herself is excellently cast, with Nina Bergman filling the pants and armbands in a not-unattractive, yet still arse-kicking way.
Resident Fargo nutjob Peter Stormare appears on the credits as well.
There’s some good moments in here, starting with the fact she’s some kind of mysterious Amazon and she’s fighting Nazis.
And the bit where she learns how to use her armbands while facing what’s probably a Messerschmitt Bf 110 but we can’t commit to that.
So here it is:

Where this goes from here is anyone’s guess. But soon there’ll be enough fanflicks, pilots and teasers to merge into a feature film, so it’s just a matter of time before someone’s willing to see if audiences will swallow the whole Invisible Jet experience.
